Store More of Your Solar Energy with a SolarEdge Home Battery
A SolarEdge battery gives Sydney homes and businesses a practical way to store excess solar energy and use it later, when solar generation is lower. PROBEC Solar supplies and installs SolarEdge storage solutions across Sydney and NSW, with systems assessed around your existing solar setup, energy use and property requirements.

Solar energy is most productive during the day, but many households use more electricity in the evening. That is where battery storage can make a noticeable difference. Instead of sending all your unused solar energy to the grid, a battery can store some of it for later use.
PROBEC Solar has been working in solar and battery solutions since 2018 and services customers across NSW, Victoria and Queensland. The company provides residential and commercial energy solutions, including battery storage and solar systems.
For households using SolarEdge equipment, keeping the battery within the same ecosystem can also simplify monitoring and system management.
A SolarEdge home battery is a solar energy storage system designed to store surplus electricity generated by your solar panels and make that energy available when you need it. The Australian SolarEdge range includes DC-coupled battery solutions designed to integrate with compatible SolarEdge inverters.
Your panels generate electricity during the day. If your home is not using all of it, the available excess can be directed into the battery. Later, that stored energy can be used in the evening or at other times when solar production is low.
This can increase solar self-consumption and reduce the amount of electricity you need to draw from the grid. SolarEdge also provides monitoring through its energy-management platform, allowing homeowners to keep an eye on solar generation, battery operation and household consumption.
SolarEdge currently offers different storage options for Australian residential systems. The important distinction is whether your property uses a single-phase or three-phase setup.
The SolarEdge Home Battery 400V is the main single-phase storage option. Each battery provides approximately 9.7 kWh of usable storage, with 10.3 kWh total capacity. It uses DC coupling and offers up to 94.5% round-trip efficiency. Up to three batteries can be stacked per compatible inverter, giving approximately 29.1 kWh of usable storage.
It can be installed indoors or outdoors and mounted on a wall or floor, subject to installation requirements. Backup operation requires the compatible SolarEdge Home Hub inverter and Home Backup Interface.
For properties with three-phase requirements, the SolarEdge 3-Phase Home Battery is a modular option. Each battery module provides 4.85 kWh, and up to five modules can be stacked per inverter, providing up to 24.25 kWh. SolarEdge states a round-trip efficiency of up to 95.4% for this DC-coupled system.
The system is designed to work with the SolarEdge 3-Phase Home Hub inverter. Three-phase backup can also be configured with the appropriate Backup Interface.

Battery capacity is measured in kWh, not kW. That distinction matters when comparing systems.
For example, when people search for a SolarEdge 10 kW battery, they are referring to the approximately 10 kWh class of the SolarEdge Home Battery 400V. Its usable capacity is around 9.7 kWh per battery, rather than 10 kW.
The right SolarEdge battery size depends on your solar system, daily electricity consumption, evening usage and how much solar energy is normally exported. Future plans matter too. An EV, pool, home extension, or higher electricity demand can change the storage requirement.
More capacity is not automatically better. A properly sized system should match the way your home uses energy. PROBEC Solar will assess your current consumption and solar generation before recommending a solar configuration for your home.
Use more of the solar energy your panels generate instead of exporting all surplus electricity to the grid.
Stored energy can be used after sunset, when your solar panels are no longer producing at daytime levels.
The SolarEdge Home Battery 400V offers up to 94.5% round-trip efficiency through direct DC coupling. The three-phase battery is rated at up to 95.4%.
Battery backup is available when the required compatible inverter and Backup Interface are installed. Backup configuration depends on the system design, so it should not be assumed for every installation.
SolarEdge systems can be monitored through the mySolarEdge app and managed using SolarEdge ONE, helping homeowners understand how their energy is being produced and used.
Both current battery families offer stacking options, allowing storage capacity to be increased within the limits of the compatible inverter and installation design.
SolarEdge storage may be worth considering if you already have a compatible SolarEdge solar system, are installing a new SolarEdge system, or want to increase your use of on-site solar energy.
It can also suit businesses looking to store some daytime solar generation for later use. But there is an important qualification: compatibility needs to be checked first.
Your installer should look at the existing inverter, solar capacity, electrical phase, energy consumption, available installation space, and future requirements. A battery should fit the system, rather than being selected because its capacity looks attractive on paper.
A SolarEdge battery system is designed around compatible SolarEdge equipment. The Home Battery 400V works with specified SolarEdge inverter configurations, while the SolarEdge 3-Phase Home Battery is designed for the SolarEdge 3-Phase Home Hub inverter.
This means a qualified installer should review your existing system before confirming a retrofit.
For backup, the required SolarEdge Home Hub inverter and Backup Interface must also be considered. The Backup Interface supports full or partial backup configurations depending on the system.

There is no sensible one-size-fits-all SolarEdge battery price. The final cost depends on battery capacity, inverter compatibility, installation requirements, electrical work, backup equipment and whether additional components are needed.
The Australian Government’s Cheaper Home Batteries program currently provides a 30% discount on eligible small-scale battery systems from 1 July 2025, subject to the program’s rules. The NSW Government confirms that eligible batteries can receive an upfront discount through the federal program.
NSW also has a separate Virtual Power Plant incentive. From 1 July 2026, batteries up to 50 kWh can be eligible for that incentive, although other eligibility requirements apply.
The previous NSW battery installation discount is no longer available for home and business owners.
Because eligibility and incentive amounts can change, PROBEC should confirm the applicable programs when preparing your quote.
PROBEC Solar was established in 2018 and works across NSW, Victoria, and Queensland. The company identifies itself as a New Energy Tech Approved Seller and a member of the Clean Energy Council, and lists a NSW Electrical Contractor Licence on its website.
For customers, that experience matters. Battery installation is not only about mounting a box on a wall. Compatibility, electrical requirements, configuration and commissioning all need to be considered.
PROBEC also provides residential and commercial solar and battery services, with a Sydney base and additional locations in Melbourne and Queensland.
PROBEC Solar provides SolarEdge battery Sydney installation and serves a broad range of NSW locations. Its published service areas include Sydney, Parramatta, Sutherland, Penrith, Liverpool, the Central Coast, Newcastle, Wollongong, Bathurst, Goulburn, and other regional areas.
If you already have SolarEdge equipment, the first step is straightforward: have the existing system assessed. From there, the installer can determine whether battery storage can be integrated and what configuration makes sense.

Thinking about adding storage? Start with an assessment rather than guessing the battery size from a product name.
PROBEC Solar will review your existing solar system, confirm SolarEdge battery compatibility, assess the required capacity, and check current rebate eligibility.
The SolarEdge Home Battery 400V comes with a 10-year manufacturer’s warranty. Actual battery performance depends on operating conditions, installation and usage. The warranty document should be checked for the current capacity-retention and other applicable terms.
Compatibility depends on your existing SolarEdge inverter and system configuration. A qualified installer should check the inverter model, electrical setup and available installation options before confirming whether a battery retrofit is suitable.
Yes. SolarEdge now offers a dedicated SolarEdge 3-Phase home battery designed to integrate with its three-phase Home Hub inverter. It uses modular 4.85 kWh battery units that can be stacked for greater capacity.
It can, when the system is configured with compatible backup equipment. SolarEdge states that its Home Battery can be paired with the required Home Hub inverter and Backup Interface for backup applications. The exact backup arrangement depends on the installation.
kW describes power, while kWh describes stored energy. Battery capacity is expressed in kWh. So, when comparing a battery advertised around the 10 kWh level, you are looking at its energy-storage capacity rather than its power output.
There is no universal battery size. Your solar generation, daily electricity use, evening consumption, existing inverter and future energy needs all affect the calculation. SolarEdge also recommends considering consumption and future scalability when determining battery capacity.
